Hi! I’m Glikeriya, a multidisciplinary graphic designer and urbanist thinking, observing, designing, experimenting, sketching, DJ-ing, and living in New York.

Currently art directing at Pixel


I started my career by opening an underground techno club in a former factory in Almaty. Over seven years, together with a team, we built it into a cultural space, organizing festivals, collaborating with artists from around the world and offering affordable spaces to local businesses. I ran the place and designed its visual identity, including the posters. During that time, I also co-owned and art-directed the Kazakhstan franchise of The Village, an independent lifestyle magazine.

I grew up in a family of civil engineers and biologists, which I like to bring up as an explanation for my obsession with technology. It’s a convenient theory, and I am testing it constantly. I like systems enough to build them and am curious enough to see what else they could do.

I keep returning to questions that first came up while running the space: where do people meet when they don’t feel at home elsewhere? Who gets to belong, and who gets left out? Those questions shaped my interest in design education, shared spaces and cultural life, particularly how graphic design helps younger generations find a sense of belonging.
